Groovemark's log and the diagnostic report
What it is
Groovemark keeps a small log of what it's doing, on your Mac, so that when an album doesn't come out right there's a record to read instead of a guess. The only way any of it leaves your Mac is when you choose to export a diagnostic report and send it to us. It's purely there to help with troubleshooting if you want; it's entirely local until you send it to us.
What the log records
Plain lines, each with a time. Read one and you know what the app was doing at that moment.
- Launches. When the app started, which version, and the window it opened.
- Your album. The recording's file name, the album you picked, and how you found it: a search or a pasted link. These lines carry artist, album, and track names, because that's what the app was working on.
- How we placed the cuts. Each step the detector took and why, every cut it proposed, and which ones it marked zoomed out.
- Your cuts at Export. Where you put each cut beside where we proposed it, and how far you moved it. This is how a report tells us how close we came, on an album that went well as much as on one that didn't.
- Export. Each track written, in which format; the pops and clicks reduced on each track; the tempo and key we read.
- Saving. Where the album was saved, or how it was handed to GP-33.
- Your license or trial. Whether it's active, the last four characters of your key, and how many trial exports are left. Never your whole key, and never your email.
- Errors. Anything the app trips over, with enough of a trace to fix it.
- Requests. The app's own server answering its own window.
The log is capped. When it fills, the oldest lines are dropped and it keeps going.
What it never records
Your audio. Your artwork. Your email. Your whole license key. Anything else on your Mac. Nothing is sent anywhere on its own.
The diagnostic report
Open Help (the ? at the top of the window), then Export diagnostic report at the bottom. Groovemark zips the log together with your settings and one short page of facts about the setup: the app's version, the macOS version, which kind of Mac, and where the app keeps its working files. You decide whether to send it. It contains the file and folder names above, including your recordings' names and where you save your albums, so treat it like any file that names what's on your Mac.
Sending it to us
Send it through our support form, with the album and a line on how it went. See Contacting Groovemark Support.
When to send
Right after the album, before you start the next one, so that album is still fresh in the log. One report per album. If something went wrong that a relaunch fixes, export the report while it's still wrong, then relaunch.
